ethernet controller on T42P

#1 Post by boris » Tue Aug 19, 2008 2:28 pm

My ethernet controller isn't working and my T42P. It says "Phillips" on the wireless card abg.

Anyone know where the driver for this is? Is this the factory card?

Thankyou.

Are you looking for 'Ethernet' drivers or 'Wireless' drivers, two different things. Can you post pictures of both sides of the card in question? Alternately, go into device manager, properties for the wireless device, details tab, select hardware ID's from the drop down list. Copy/past the resultant lines here.

The wireless in my T42p is exactly the same as ebay item# 190244868582

For some reason my wireless isn't showing up in device manager.

The ethernet problem is device instance ID:

PCI\VEN_168C&DEV_1014&SUBSYS_833117AB&REV_01\4&39A85202&0&10F0

Since my "normal ethernet" plug on the side is working, I assumed that the two problems are related (the lack of wireless and the flag for

I thought this might be it:http://www-307.ibm.com/pc/support/site. ... MIGR-62875

But it didn't solve the problem.

I can get a picture of both sides of the card when my wife gets back tomorrow.

Thankyou!

Hit FN-F5 on the keyboard and enable the wireless radio.

Device ID: PCI\VEN_168C&DEV_1014&SUBSYS_833117AB&REV_01\4&39A85202&0&10F0
Manufacturer: Atheros Communications Inc
Name: 11a/b/g Wireless LAN Mini PCI Adapter

Download the driver here

You're awesome. Thank you!

It worked. I didn't realize at first that there are executables being downloaded into the file directory and that it is not sufficient to simple click on the .exe from Lenovo.

That you a bunch! That is a huge relief knowing that the hardware is fully functional (and that I didn't purchase a computer with a glitch).
