T41 upgrade to Dothan

Hi,

I was told a a ebay seller that T41 can be upgraded to Dothan CPU, can any one verify the claim?

Yes, you should be able to, but it isn't worth the price. That is, unless you have something to do with the old banias, such as put it in a small form factor PC?

Eventually prices will fall on the Dothan and it'll extend the life of older T4x models so that owners can wait for even better ThinkPads to blow a lot of money on :D

I know I plan to lend out on a more or less permanent basis my T40p in 1.8 yrs to a friend who uses a 600X and I'll upgrade the chip before then.

By that time, PCI-Express laptops with all the Intel goodies (Alviso, Sonoma..) should be along (with replaceable GPUs too) It'll be a whole different type of motherboard and I'll want to buy a top of the line T then. But the longer I can wait, the cooler the tech I'll get to purchase before I wait another 3 yrs for the next purchase.
