IBM ThinkPad T43 - Few Questions

Dear ThinkPadders!


A good friend of mine owns a T43, which he takes care of and loves very much. I have a few questions regarding his computer.

Last night, while working in Photoshop, he realized that there are some lines (Possibly can be described as imprints) on the upper-right corner of the screen. It looks similar to somebody pressing his finger on a screen and then leaving his fingerprint. However, he never did such a thing and his computer's screen was always cared for with outmost attention. Is this a common problem with T4xx screens? Or is it something out of the ordinary.
His computer is still under over a year warranty by IBM - question is, can it be covered by warranty.

Another question - I have a spare 9 Cell battery (92P1102), that came with my T40, in good condition.
On some sites I read that this battery only fits up-to T42/p series.
On other sites, I've read it even supports up to T43 series.
Which is true? I don't want to stick in the battery and cause damage to the computer or the battery by accident.

Any T4X 9 cell will work in any T4X machine. Can you post a picture of the LCD anomoly?

I will try my best to photograph it, however I am afraid the problem might not show up on a picture. The best way to notice it is by bare eyes.

But I will certainly try.

UPDATE: I've tried photographing the phenomenon, but as I feared, the problem failed to show on a digital picture.

The good news; Turns out, the IBM warranty that exists on the computer is a house-call based warranty. They will contact us shortly to set a date/time and they'll send out a techie to take a look.
