Canada post.....

#1 Post by SaberX » Fri Aug 22, 2008 9:19 am

I just have to say , Canada post sucks... Or maybe it's the post office by my house that i go to all the time.
The MiniPCI wireless card i had problems with, i sent back to Shanghai,China. They only charged me $3.00usd with tracking # to send it to me.
I went to send it back and the girl at Canada post said $21.65 to send it back.(with tracking #).Thats crazy.
It was only in a 5x7 bubble mailler. So i said what about without a tracking #. it was $4.50. So i went that way.....
As i was leaving she said they will get it in 6 to 8 WEEKS! I thought she was joking....But nope, thats what she said. She said the $4.50 and the $21.65 (with tracking#) would take the same time to get there.
She said the next fastest way for 8 to 10 bussness days would be $52.00

I have to start going to a diffrent office.

Canada Post sucks? Romanian Post is worse! I remember that a couple of years ago I tried to send back to the seller (in UK), a mini-pci wireless card (advertised as IBM one - but was a generic one..). They wanted to charge me ~20 euro (!) even without a tracking number!. I renounced to do that - I sold the card locally for the same amount of money I paid for.

Heh, reminds me of a book i bought used from a seller on Amazon in Canada. He was extremely helpful, and it sounded like he was pretty amazed with how much international shipping actually costed. This was a standard sub 2 lbs book, but shipping would be much more than what the book was worth, around $70.
Instead we both agreed that the only feasible shipping method was without t&t and by ship. So fast forward 4-5 weeks later, and i finally received the book :)

AIX, that sounds truely horrible. Sounds a little like they want to minimize exports alltogether.

I must say, dutch post office is nice and cheap. But most import, very accurate and FAST. Sorry for the rest of the people who are not so lucky.

Canada Post can be a bit strange sometimes, especially going to places other than the U.S.

I just shipped a 50x40x20 cm box with 5.35 kg worth of laptop and padding inside to the U.S., and it cost me $26 with delivery confirmation / some amount of tracking. I was estimating $30; previously I usually ended up paying more than I estimated before going to the office.

A couple years ago I was trying to send a semi-thick letter-sized envelope to Scandinavia and was told the cheapest method that was guaranteed to take less than six weeks would be $40.

Go figure.

Yes, it looks like!

I see they have lower prices now - for that card I should pay ~3 euro unregistered or ~7 euro - registered.
