Voice Recording on a ThinkPad?
Hi everyone,
I have an X41t and an Olympus voice recorder that I bring to school nearly every day. I wonder if there's a way to record lectures using my X41t. I recently discovered that it has a microphone.
If someone has succeeded doing it, would you please post your experience here? (which software? long time recording possible?)
Thank you!
Best Regards,
Tony

does the x41t have a built-in mic? how about a mic-in jack?
if so, you can use the sound recorder applet (sndrec32.exe on xp) that comes with windows. it saves files as .wav so i'd guess they could get big real fast.

I've used Harddisk ogg to record something from the internal mic on my thinkpad (to mp3/wav).

Hi Tony,
I work in live audio and do some recording.
Audacity would likely work for what you want.
http://audacity.sourceforge.net/
Note that recording a lecturer on a laptop mic is going to give low audio quality.
If you are in a quiet room and talking directly into the mic, you will likely get useful results.
Good health, Weogo

Thanks for the tips! I will bring both the X41t and my Olympus voice recorder for the first few lectures and compare them.Weogo wrote:Note that recording a lecturer on a laptop mic is going to give low audio quality.
Yes Audacity is really an excellent software, not only for sound recording but also for editing. I will give Harddisk ogg a try too, it's free anyway
Cheers,
Tony
