Cannot figure out how to embed a pic into an e-mail... ??

#1 Post by leoblob » Sat Aug 23, 2008 12:19 pm

I receive e-mails with pix embedded in them (like ads from computer stores).

I know how to send an e-mail with a pic attached, or with a link to a pic, but I cannot figure out how to have the pic itself actually embedded into the e-mail, so it just appears as part of the e-mail.

It has something to do with HTML code and/or picking the right link (photobucket has several link choices), but it seems that no matter which one I pick, all I get is the link location in my e-mail, but not the pic itself.

This has to be very easy, but I cannot figure out how to do it... ???

Spammers user pictures embedded in emails (GIF image spam), and good spam tools now turf GIF spam adroitly down the toilet with no trouble. You can do it - In Outlook format the mail as HTML and Insert Picture. I just don't recommend it. ... JDH

I'm just on yahoo e-mail, using FF 2. Zero experience with Outlook. Prior to that, I was on compuserve (for many, many years) which had its proprietary e-mail app.

no idea how to do it with a webmail system, as i've never tried it.

in thunderbird, it's 'insert... image' from the menubar of a compose window.

I've been playing with this for the last couple of days and I'm becoming convinced that it can't be done with web mail.

I was able to get an image inserted inline to a Yahoo! email using Firefox 2.0.0.16 using the following procedure:

- display the image you want to use in a browser
- highlight just the image by dragging your cursor across the image; for example, click on the left of the image and then drag across to the right until the image is "darkened"
- right click the highlighted image and choose Copy OR simply press CTRL-C
- in the Yahoo! rich-text (not plain text) composition window, click where you want to insert the picture and then right-click and choose Paste OR simply press CTRL-V
- the receiver of the message must enable viewing of images in order to see them

Thanks! Earlier today, I responded to your e-mail which came thru fine.

Now I'm here, just now checking this thread and I see your solution. Many thanks. I will try it later today. I am using the same exact version of Firefox.
