Powersleeve 14 or Powersleeve 15?

#1 Post by Champ » Wed Dec 29, 2004 12:28 pm

Hi

I'm waiting for my 15'' T42 to come and I want to know which sleeve I should buy?

And later if I bought a 9 cell would it fit in the 14 or would 15 be the only option?

Lastly if you could also tell me if hte powersleeve is really 15'' tall, it's hard to believe it adds 2 whole inches ot th thinkpad! Thanks because my backpack won't fit 15'' comfortable I don't believe :s

Which powersleeve are you referring to? The ones i have in mind are made for an exact fit on the Mac Powerbooks. They are not a good option for a Thinkpad...they lack any serious padding for protection.

the 14' from booq fits the t42p 15' , not leaving any spare room.
the power adaptor/cord can be pushed in the front pouch.

I am not so sure about using a 14" PowerSleeve for a 15" with 9-cell. I have a PS14 and it fits my 14" with 6-cell very well. Trying to put the former into the PS14 will be a stretch...

I would be pretty confident that if the Powersleeve 14 fits the 15 inch T42 perfectly, snugly, and with no extra room, that the Powersleeve 15 fits it also, with a little extra room.

If you are never going to get the 9 cell, than get the 14. If you think you may want the 9 cell sometime, get the 15.

I have a 14 inch, and I am not planning on getting a 9 cell anytime soon. I don't like the idea of something sticking out the back of my TP. So, if I were in your position, I would get the 14.

well I don't really know since for biz school I might be carrying my thinkpad around a lot so I might end up getting the 9 cell. I want the option that fit the thinkpad best under both cases.

Preferably if a 9 celled battery thinkpad fits in a powersleeve 14 without stressing the bag or thinkpad then I can go ahead and buy knowing I can get 9 cell one day =)

Keep in mind that the Powersleeve has padding on all six sides. So eventhough the Powersleeve 15 really is 15" tall (external dimensions), I can confirm this because I just measured mine, it won't hold a laptop 15" wide. That said, there are very few non-widescreen laptops 15" wide. For instance, the T42 with 15" inch screen is only 13" wide.

Regarding your other question...my T42 15" with 9-cell just about perfectly fits in my Powersleeve 15. So I doubt it fits in the Powersleeve 14 very well.

FYI, the 9-cell adds about 0.4 inches to the Thinkpad's width.

I hope this helps.

can it be squished down to near 13''? i'm just wondering how it adds 2'' of padding... I'm not worried about ever getting a 15'' tall alptop.. won't happen hehe.. My bag only holds up to 13'' high so 15'' would be problematic..

i have the 14' booq with a t42p 9 cell. It fits as said with no room left.
the 9 cell pushes it a little to the outside. So not perfect, but the sleeve is almost always going in a backpack which gives extra protection.
Finally i will probably go to a 6cell, because not so dependend on battery,

Yup, a 6 cell definitely expands the number of bags out there that would fit a T42 15". But then again, the 9 cell definitely proved to be useful while I was waiting for jury duty :)

FWIW the Case Logic NCLE-2 "Notebook Shuttle" ($19.99 at CompUSA or online at many places) fits my T42p with extended battery very nicely. It is a padded nepoprene sleeve with zippered top. It's also 15" wide though.
