R50p recover to factory settings, failed

I have R50p type 1832 with Windows XP Pro and 60GB drive.

Original problem was MBR virus preventing windows XP pro from booting up. Tech guy helped me recover files with ubuntu but I want to get XP working for dual boot. When I selected Recover to Factory Contents in the IBM Predesktop area, the error message was "Application Authentication has Failed. This Application cannot be loaded" This was not a problem prior to ubuntu presence.
Am I now stuck with buying the IBM recover cd to get a clean XP install or can I work with ubuntu or another method to fix this?
