X30 LCD bezel damage [PICS]

#1 Post by fasterbybike » Tue Aug 26, 2008 5:53 pm

A seller on the local e-market trademeis selling multiple X30's and claims they all have cosmetic damage to the LCD bezel. You can see the damage in these photos

The original listing andseller's explanation for the damage is here

It seems very strange that a whole batch are damaged this way - does anyone have experience with what could have caused this ? I.e. are there likely to be other problems ?

The LCD bezel on the X30 is very thin and fragile plastic. My opinion is that someone did LCD repairs on these machines and snapped the bezels in the attempt. Very easy to do ...

Some people are slow learners :( The seller said he has many of these available. The old saying "once bitten, twice shy" didn't work here.

BTW, They're selling for around NZD150 (approx USD100 as I type.)

The LCD bezel is not the only place to look for plastic damage on the X30. Many have hairline fractures (or worse) in the keyboard bezel, near the right-arrow and Fn keys. These are very hard to see in eBay photos.

None of these affect the machine's functionality.

it's costing him quite a bit though to sell those at such a low price!
