Ever since I had the mobo of my T60 changed to a T60p I've had overheating issues. I had solved them for most games by downloading TPFanControl and setting the fan speed to the max (which is 3790rpm, is this right?), but for my most intensive game (GTR2) even still the GPU will get to 100C and the game will crash (well, actually, the video driver will crash, causing the game to crash). Now, I've been solving this by filling a ziploc bag with ice, double bagging it, and sticking it under the laptop, but obviously this is less than ideal.
Is 3790rpm the correct top fan speed? Is there anything I can do to try to drop the temps?

The first step would be to make sure that dust isn't clogging up anything, then you'd try other things.

If the board was replaced under warranty, I'd send it back for another try. And if the computer wasn't under warranty, how about the motherboard/repair - most places give you some kind of warranty. Do you have the same BIOS on both the old and the new board?

It was a forum poster who did the swap for me. I am satisfied with the work overall, just this little issue. Oddly enough, I just found yesterday that by taking 3 jars of shoe polish, putting on at each of the front corners and one at the back center, the computer stays cool enough that this problem doesn't occur.
