ibm thinkpad r32 blank screen(good external screen)

i,am a newbie and would like to know if any one else has the same problem i ,am having with my ibm thinkpad r32 .it,s a 1.8 gig 256 ram and 17gig hd. with xp pro and i can not get the lcd screen to lite up and every thing works fine just no screen but will display external screen. i have the screen all apart (bezel) off and i have taken the screen out of the casing thinking it is a conection problem but to no avail. so my next step was to buy a new inverter from ibm and it did arrive in 1 day (amazing) and i put the new one in but still no screen. here is what i a,m down to . i took the screen out from the laptop and pluged the screen into a diff. laptop inverter and it did light up so i now know it,s not the ccft or backlight so i put the screen back into the r32 and hooked up the main video cable then took the other laptop and hocked up the inverter to it and turned on the r32 and bingo i now have video mind you it,s by runnig two diff, machines at the same time so now i a,m puzzeled as why ain,t the r32 inverter powering up the backlight (and tryed 2 inverters) is ther no power to the r32 as all the lights come on the inverter. maybe someone else has the same problem. will wait for any sugest. thanks for your time.colby1999. the model of thinkpad is (2658-J3U)
