The model on the left is the famous 701 series with the "buttefly" keyboard ... what is the model on the right? It has a butterfly keyboard too! Some please tell me what this is!

A 65% mini-scale non-working model of the 701c. As you can see by the below pics, the writer of the article shows you how the model is assembled.

It was a promotional item to commemorate Thinkpad's 10th anniversary back in Oct. 2002, and to coincide w/ the first release of the 701 back in Oct. 1992. The event was held at the "Tokyo Big Site", an awesome venue by the way, and of course is no longer available!

The best part about it was the promo sheet that came w/ it (a must read):

[Later: I see I'm just repeating what emoticonartist says directly above.] My impression is that the Mosquito is is a scale model not a working model. Maybe everyone else is aware of this, but I thought I should clarify just in case.
