Battery EEPROM reset
Battery EEPROM reset
Hi,
i just successfully replaced cells in my thinkpad's battery for brand new Li-Ion 18650 3,7V 2600mAh.
1. battery condition now is green in battery health,
2. full charge capacity is 25,55Wh
3. laptop works up to 3,5h from full charge to self power off
4. what can i do more?
did battery's eeprom reset will extend battery capacity?
why it isn't charging at full ?
after cells replacement nominal capacity should be about 5000-5100mAh (~61Wh) but systems showing 25,55Wh
somethink else, don't be worry about use soldering tools with Li-Ion cells, reason i do that and i'm still alive, BUT use them extremly cautiously

Maybe this will help : let the thinkpad discharge fully without any alarm/shutdown or suspend set when empty. Battery charge will show 0% but thikpad will still work for a while.. keep an eye on the voltage and only do connect to AC again when voltage drops under 10V. Then charge to 100% without interruption. You may then recover a good chunk of 'Wh' in the internal battery counter. It may be needed to repeat the process 2 or 3 times...

thank you for reply.
i already do that once, but i don't lookd at voltage, i leaved them and he shutdown itself (i don't know shutdown voltage), this can damage new cells ?
before this capacity was ~16Wh (just after new cells installation) after that ~25,5Wh
i'll do thistwo more time, with voltage checking, we will see...

i've done that what FTC has suggested, but strange, thinkpad work over 30 minutes with 0%, and 0 mAh capacity at full speed and brightest lcd setting,
when battery voltage gets 9,8V i've connected AC adapter, it charged to 100% but no capacity changes i've noted.
update:
yeap, now i'm sure that i can get only 50% of nominal capacity (25,99Wh of 52Wh), so propably one cell is bad and needs to be replaced with new one.

Re: battery eeprom reset
Did you managed to get a full capacity?
