Yes, it is plenty fast for the internet and stuff... basically anything you'd want to do with it. it can play movies and mp3s too.
In the US, the price recently dropped to $349 for the 120GB/XP version as there is a 160GB/XP version with the 6-cell that is going to be $399.
I signed up for an upgraded high speed internet service at Best Buy and they gave me a $100 off laptop/computers coupon which I used... hence $250.
Like I said, I just need to get used the touchpad. But the build quality is better than other Acer laptops I've played with. And the screen is much brighter than the Thinkpads, though it is glossy.
Of course it doesn't have the keyboard drains or the hard drive protection system. And the Home and End keys are in a horrible spot.

It also has this strange issue where the screen flickers slightly in the lowest brightness setting. The other complaint people have is that the fan is always on, but there are utilities available to get around that. With the standard 3-cell battery, there is only around 2-2.5 hours of battery life.
So originally the X61s was going to be my travel computer. But for the price of the Acer, plus the smaller size, it's been replaced by the Acer. I just hope I don't have any reliability issues.
