i'm pretty sure you cannot restore the hidden partition from a dvd/cd iso, unless we're talking about the ibm/lenovo recovery cds and restoring the complete system to factory state.

if that's what you want to do, you might like to post a "wtb" in the marketplace forum or send a pm to tpcollector, who sells a number of sets for less than ibm/lenovo. not sure about 'z' series, though.

alternatively, someone might be able to make and send you a copy, but that might be of questionable copyright legality.

cheers.

do you mean that you want to recover the entire machine back to it's original factory state, which include the recovery partition?

yes, I want to recover the original factory but as you know i deleted that partition (the recovery one) I think I have to request DVD recovery !!!

Or

If I buy a copy of windows vista and using the Product Key comes with my laptop, is it ok?? or I have to use the original CD for Vista.

Because I formatted my laptop and it is running now on Windows XP PRO. And I can not back to Vista after deleted the recovery partition.

Please advice...

thanks again Sarbin

the way you can recover the machine to 'factory-fresh state' is to get a hold of the appropriate ibm/lenovo recovery disk set. you can pm tpcollector on this forum. have a look at this:
http://forum.thinkpads.com/viewtopic.php?t=62221
you could also post a "wtb/lf" message in 'marketplace' and see if someone else could supply you with a set.

once you have a set, enter your machine's bios and make sure that your cd drive is listed as the first boot device. then put the first r&r cd into the drive and reboot. after that just follow the directions and 60-90 minutes later, your machine will have a fresh image installed and will have a rebuilt hidden recovery partition.

does this help?

sorry. i misread your model.

if tpcollector can't help you out, post in the marketplace just in case someone else has a set.

cheers
