Power Problems
Power Problems
I believe that I have loose DC connector on my T40. Sometimes when I plug in the adapter, it doesn't work and I have to move it around in the connector. I looked on the Lenovo website and can't find any information about it. Any help is appreciated.
just take your computer apart and then use a soldering iron to repair the missed solder sub DC connector and everything is gonna be just fine i see so many computers with the same problem and i repair them easily

He makes this sound easy.
I've taken apart many T4x machines - but the one time I tried this repair it was really tough to get into the machine that far.
But - if you do decide to DYI - here is the repair manual.

Get one of those Milwaukee screw drivers and a nice magnetized #1 tip at Home Depot. Make the job much easier.

The DC socket connects to the mobo via a short lead and a plug. You can get new ones via ebay etc. Good luck with the repair.

Sounds like the problem I had on the T41. Try 'T41p Battery not charging -Interesting Cause' atindicium wrote:I believe that I have loose DC connector on my T40. for details of how I fixed it. I hope this helps you.
IBM ThinkPad T43-2668-F5G,

T41p-2373-GEG & a T61-6466-9YG
Can you borrow someone else's adaptor, or use your on their Thinkpad? That would narrow the problem down.indicium wrote:Today, I not so sure it isn't the adapter as when I was moving the plug around in the jack nothing but i had to move the adapter and it worked. This is going to take a little more research.
One question though, can the connector be loose and still function well?
