2200BG vs 2915ABG What should I keep?

#1 Post by LPC » Wed Sep 03, 2008 8:38 am

Well,

The swap from my t23 to T42p is on its way. I have a 2915ABG in the T23 and 2200BG in the T42p. I have to do some work to make the 2915ABG work on the T42P (1802 error "Unauthorized network card") Got another thread working this issue.

Started thinking.....should I even do the swap? Is the only difference with the cards is the "A" network? Which card will function better with my T42p?

hi,

2200bg isn't centrino compatybile, 2915abg is, so propably you will have shorter time of work on battery when using wifi, this is main difference except "a" standard.

FYI, both are considered "Centrino" - note the Centrion logo on the splash screen on startup (or the TABOOK listing for any 2200bg model). I would guess that the 2200bg actually uses less power because it doesn't have the "a" radio.

Additionally, I have found the 2200bg adapters to be slightly more reliable over the years.

I recommend sticking with the 2200bg adapter unless you need to attach to an "a" wifi network.
