T41 Need 7200 rpm PATA disk

#1 Post by guardlights » Thu Sep 04, 2008 9:07 am

This disk is out of production. I am looking for a preferrably new 7200 rpm disk (any capacity 60G, or over, that will work with the system) to replace the crashed one on my T41. It could be that there are 5400s available but I dont want to take the performacen hit. Can anybody recommend how to get one of these. I have looked and searched unsuccessfully.

Thanks --

welcome to the forum. :)

7200rpm pata drives pop up in the marketplace from time to time, but you should post a "wtb" there. one of our sellers may reach out to you with a possibility.

Nothing more gratifying that a max'ed out Thinkpad with a 7K drive. I replaced my 60GB 7200 drive with a WD 160GB 5400 drive simply due to running out of room (on sale at Fry's for $60 last weekend).

Since the old drive needed defrag frequently, this new WD seem faster than the 7200 Hitachi.

Our problem now is not finding a 7200 drive but how long PATA will be in production.
