Swapping hard drives

#1 Post by kingweb » Thu Sep 04, 2008 10:17 pm

My partner and I both bought our T61s last year. They both have identical configurations.
My partner's fan needed replacement, so he brought it to a service center. They said it would take a few days. So he left it there, but took out the hard drive with the intent to put it into my computer. We assumed that it would work fine since the hardware was identical. However, no matter what we did, we kept getting the blue screen of death while windows was loading.

Anyone know about this?

In theory it should work fine, not sure why it doesn't. Try switching the S-ATA mode in BIOS to compatability from AHCI.
If that works you can reinstall the Intel Matrix Storage Driver afterwards and then switch back again in BIOS.
