T42p Ram
How much ram can I put in my T42p? I have 1g now - is there room for another 1g module, or is there only one slot? I tried to pull the chip out, but could not figger how to get it out with the two little side thingey's.
Also, where is the best place to get additional ram?
Thanks.

there is two RAM slots ,the first is located at the bottom of the laptop just open the cover and put it there ,and the second is behind the keyboard you should take off the keyboard and put it
the maximum is 2GB (1GB for each slot)
the maximum is 2GB (1GB for each slot)

Hi,
You should be able to remove the ram by gently pushing the metal clips (the ones that are holding the ram in place) outwards, and the stick will pop upwards by itself. If you need more info, you can download the T42p Hardware Maintenance Manual from: http://www.thinkwiki.org/wiki/Category:T42p. The manual will also provide instructions on how you can access the ram underneath the keyboard.
The standard ram for T42p is PC2700 DDR 333Mhz. However, accdg to advise from experts on this forum, PC3200 DDR 400Mhz RAM should work.

Hello,
You can see on Corsair, Kingston, Crucial, Memory-Ten, and other sites, what is the RAM you need.
The Corsair one is cheap.
If you want to put 2 GB, then you can buy 2x 1 GB modules which reference is VS1GSDS333.
Corsair certifies this RAM compatible with the T42.
Here in France, 1 VS1GSDS333 costs 45€.

From Lenovo :
And I add it's non-ECC memory (this type of memory has a chip that does error corrections). These modules are made for servers.

Seen on http://www-307.ibm.com/pc/support/site. ... -57839#mem* 64-bit Double Data Rate (DDR) non-parity SDRAM memory
* PC2700 at 333MHz
* Two 200 pin SO-DIMM memory slots, one slot is pre-populated with 256MB or 512MB, leaving one socket available
* Supports up to two 1GB SDRAM SO DIMMs
* Supports maximum memory up to 2GB
And I add it's non-ECC memory (this type of memory has a chip that does error corrections). These modules are made for servers.

PC3200 should also work.
My X31, which uses the same modules than the T42 has 1x 512 MB PC3200 (Corsair VS512SDS400) and 1x 512 MB PC2700 (I don't remember exactly the reference).
