Removing Vista 32 SP1

#1 Post by Trekk69 » Fri Sep 05, 2008 10:37 pm

Well, I have had countless, countless problems ever since I put SP1 onto my X61T. I have tried trouble shooting, and ensuring all my drivers were updated, but still blue scree, after blue screen, all citing different problems.
So I would like to uninstall SP1, however, my problem is that I already used the "vsp1cln" clean tool to remove the install files. So does anyone know how to uninstall after using the clean tool? OR do I need to re-download sp1, and than try uninstalling that way?

Thanks, a lot guys!

Well, here's Microsoft's official take on the matter, with several different ways to do it:

Hello

There must be something wrong in your installation, because SP1 as such runs well on Thinkpads. In the long term, you won't get any support for non-SP1 Vista.

So, what I would do is organize an installation DVD with SP1 already integrated, and then install Vista fresh from this DVD.

Make sure you backup the activation information from your system first, so that you can restore it later after the clean install (otherwise you have to activate via phone). Search for "thinkpad vista clean install" if you need hints.

Regards, Martin
