Z61m, battery and hibernation mode problems.

#1 Post by Ole » Sun Sep 07, 2008 10:22 am

I just got my self a used Z61m, from a store, still under guarantee (or however that is spelled in english). The first problem was that the battery had suffered "irreparable damage", and would not charge. So, I got my self a 9-cell battery from ebay, but the thinkpad would not charge it. I've tried two different ac-adapters, both of them 90w. The second problem is that the computer enters hibernation mode when it feels like it during heavy applications, like games and soundediting software. I can't have a computer that turns it self of when it feels like it.

So, I called IBM, and they changed my motherboard, but they did'nt have any z61m batteries in store, so they could'nt test wheter it would charge, and I forgot to bring the ebay-battery. I'll have to come back to them to check if the battery will charge sometimes during this week, but anyhow, I would at least expect the "hibernation when it feels like it"-problem to go away after they fixed the computer, but it did'nt. Do any of you have the same experience? Might it be related to the battery? I mean, it runs non-demanding applications without problems, it's just when it's under heavy pressure it suddenly turns it self of.

Any help? Ideas?

Ok, these are the applications that will make it go into hibernation: Guild Wars, Warcraft 3, Battlefield 2, Sonar 7, and Sonar 4 (when doing multitrackrecording). Oddly, it does not go into hibernation when running iTunes, Windows Mediaplayer and VLC at thcee same time, which I tought were rather heavy procedures.

I'm running windows XP pro on a 2gHz dualcore pentium, with 4 gb of ram, and the 128 mb ati x1400 graphic card.
