Hi all . I have a T23 laptop where the fan shuts down after 1 minute no matter what. I have checked all inductors etc
And all appear good. (no loose solder etc.) System runs ok
until the fan shuts off . Then it shuts down I would guess from overheat. Is it possible for a CPU fan to just bite it?
or is there a way to just force it to be on ? This thing is
running WinXp/Pro
Thanks.

It might be possible to control the fan on a T23. There's this thread:

The program that's referred to in that post, Thinkpad Fan Control is available from here:

I have/had many T23 systems but not yet run across one which has/had a fan control issue. Yes, there have been some fans which never spin up, but not one which goes for several seconds and then does not work at all. My understanding is the the fan should spin for a few seconds during POST and then it's up to the temperature sensors on the motherboard to turn the fan on and off. It's possible that you have a problem with those circuits. You can download a copy of PC Doctor for DOS which has tests for both the fan and temperature sensor. Information about obtaining this program and running those tests is here:
