Price check on T40

#1 Post by DrThinkpad » Sun Sep 07, 2008 8:39 pm

Physical condition : 8.5 or 9 out of 10. Keys are a tad shiny (barely noticeable) and a few light scratches on the lid. Perfect screen, no pressure marks or stuck pixels.

The specs :

-Pentium M 1.5ghz
-512 PC2700 RAM --- Now 1.5Gb
40gb 4200 RPM HD --- Now 40gb 5400 RPM HD
ATI Radeon 7500 chip, 1024x768 resolution (Chip has been fixed with epoxy, not a reflow, just wanted more safety even though unit has been a desktop replacement)
Wireless 2100 3B adapter --- NOW PCMCIA ''N'' Belkin card (both are in working condition, I just happen to like the ''N'' speed)
DVD Player
Modem
6 cell Lithium battery - Still holds one hour and a half of charge
Win XP Pro with COA
T500 : P8600/4GB/Intel HD/160gb Intel SSD

The fact that a forum member is selling R50P's at the moment for $300 puts a whole new light on pricing for nice older T40 machines like this one. My advice, sell it on Craigslist or EBay. Here you might get $220 to $240. There's really nothing special about your T40, it has standard screen resolution and features.

I second what Harry has said. Not just the R50p's at $300 but well equipped T43s with warranty being offered for around $400 affects what a member would be prepared to pay for a run of the mill T40.
