after almost 4 years off almost continous use the t42p failed.
but still found some usefull answers here on the forum

first the usb ports + bluetooth were suddently missing in action
(still not sure if it is hardware or softwerae related)
never realized how much the usb ports were used.

and now the fan is dead. this part ordered so the t42p will get a second life.

In the meantime a t61 have to takeover, hopefully arriving at the end of the week.

wondering if Bill is still supplying thinkpads (aka lenovo ........)
