My X61 CTO and WWAN?

#1 Post by Yves_ » Tue Sep 09, 2008 11:48 am

Hello,

I got an X61 CTO since they are out in the US 07/07.

Now I would like to add WWAN to it. How can I found out if the model supports it or not.

Regards,
Yves

"Support" of an internal WWAN card on an X61 means having the WWAN antenna. Note: You may need to remove the Intel Turbo Memory card, if the machine has it, in order to use that miniPCI Express socket for the internal WWAN card.

If your display panel does not have the WWAN antenna on the right side, then you need to remove the "top" of the machine from the base, i.e., the LCD assembly, remove the bezel of the LCD assembly, and install the WWAN antenna (FRU #93P4543).

Is it complicated to install the Antenna Kit? I only have a simslot next to the RAM. But no antenna cables. My Second miniPCI Express socket is empty :-)
