#1 Post by hungbp » Tue Sep 09, 2008 12:11 pm

Hi
I bought a second hand T43 ( Everes and Win XP say my laptop is T43 !) , but i dont know this laptop real t43 or not , because :
1./ it dont have finger reader !
2./ in ACCESS IBM/Information : Machine Type : 2668VBL , in ibm website have not this type !
3./in ACCESS IBM/Information : Memory information : Type DDR , Memory of T43 is DDR2 !! i think so.
Where can check correctly my laptop ?

It is a T43, but you may want to remove the serial # from the post...

Not all of them have a fingerprint reader...

No other model has 2668 code apart from T43/p.

Hope this helps.

Try press F1 under boot (just after powering on your T4x); this will take you into the BIOS. There, on the first screen the "System-unit serial number" will be listed, being e.g. 2373N1U3216xx where the "2373N1U" is the MT (model/type, in this case a 2373-N1U being a T42), and the "3216xx" is the serial number. I agree that it sounds a bit odd, if you have a 2668VBL - I also cannot find it at www.ibm.com :?:

Do you know the ltwbook? If not find it though the thread T4X specs - there's a lot of T43's listed (not all, but many!).

Could you have a V8L (eight, not the letter B)?

FYI, not all the model types are always listed on Lenovo's web site. Same was true when IBM was in control. Same is obviously true with the TABOOKs.

Don't worry about it, you have a T43 that was custom configured and is still in warranty. Enjoy it.

No, no, no, no.............

Mainboards can't be changed like that...your machine is fine. It is impossible to install a PM CPU on a T20 motherboard...

Do not believe everything Debian and Google tell you... :D

If you're installing Debian (or any L*nux) on your TP, you'll find www.thinkwiki.org an invaluable resource.

I've seen a T43 without a fingerprint scanner, and all sorts of 43/42 combinations with and without it.
