First of all I would like to thank you all! – until now i have managed to solve all my problems with any Thinkpad by only read different topics.
Unfortunately my new X61 is having a problem where I do not have any idea what to do. I have Thinkpad X61 7674 CTO/VG3 (two labels are showing different model) with 2gb of RAM. It came with Vista but I downgraded to XP with Recovery CDs. Everything was working fine when XP installation was done (without installing any updates). In some point where XP SP3 and different Thinkvantage updates from System Update were installed wired things started to happen.
I have experiencing two different but very annoying problems.
1. (Usually, more often) After start-up (when computer has been turned off more than several hours) I get 0X024 BSOD when XP is starting up. BSOD is shown before I can even log in. Restart does not help – BSOD is shown after every restart. It can be passed when computer is manually turned off and on again. After that everything is working greatly!
Next oddness is always coming when situation what is described in first point is not happened.
2. After start-up (when computer has been turned off more than several hours) it is possible to log in but after about 30 sec I get 0X024 BSOD. After restart everything is working greatly!
3. I managed to get 0X024 BSOD once after I had downloaded BSOD pictures (-: from my phone and disabled phone bluetooth.
I am getting this BSOD always when turning my X61 on but after that it is working excellent (except that once happened bluetooth thing). And 0X024 BSOD is not containing word NTFS.sys. /Picture1/ /Picture2/ Can someone please help! I am out of ideas.
I have uninstalled almost all Thinkvantage software and disabled all unnecessary events. Memtest86 and error-checking (HDD properties – tools) did not find any errors. I have downloaded and installed newest drivers but it is not helped.
Appreciate any reply!

X61 annoying and odd 0X024 BSOD
I've had similar problem. I've changed ram, harddisk and even clean install xp with minimum drivers but these did not help. I've run all dianostic software available e.g. microsoft pc-doctor and memtest on ram and harddisk but couldn't get any error idicator.
Finally, I call IBM and get a new mainboard, I haven't had any bsod since then.
So I suggest you claim the new mainboard. There might be some problem with other memory on the mainboard apart from ram.
All the best
