video driver for Z60T

#1 Post by chsu74 » Tue Sep 09, 2008 6:47 pm

I figured out the missing driver for rebuilding my Z60T. Its the video driver and cannot find it on the Lenovo website.

Can someone help me with this problem?

TIA
Chao

Thanks for the info Harry. A little bit of a background here on the rebuild. I wanted a clean machine so I reformated the HD without using the recovery disk. I have no ThinkVantage function.

I did download this video file and extracted it. I am running into two problems.

1. The display driver shows that its using the Default Monitor driver which I assume its the generic XP driver. It will not allow me to update the driver.

2. When I try to reinstall the driver in the device manager, it cannot find the extraced driver.

How do I hard install this driver? Should I disable this generic driver and reboot hoping that it would find the Lenovo driver first and install it?

What are my options here?

TIA

You probably have to go into the extracted file directory and run setup. It should be a sub-directory of /swtools/drivers or /drivers, I don't recall which and I am not on a Thinkpad at the moment.

Hello Harry,

I ran the setup last night but the OS will not choose the updated driver. I am hesitant in disabling the video driver and rebooting because it may be the last time I see my computer screen it it gets mad at me.. :)

I don't know what you are talking about. Delete the driver from device manager, then reboot. Then reinstall it.,

I thought installing the ATI graphics software would provide the driver but its not working.... This is frustrating. Any other thoughts?

ATI ? . What is the machine type/model of this machine? There is a sticker on the bottom.

I looked at every model of Z60T made in the ltwbook and none of them has an ATI GPU onboard. All of them are Intel GMA 900's.

The link I posted previously is the correct driver, that is if you actually have a Z60T.

Right, you have an Intel GPU, not ATI.
