t40p/t42 fan part numbers

hi,
does anybody know if i can use the ibm long fan (m10) belonging to the t42 model for the t40p model as a replacement as well?
the fru for the t40p according to http://www-307.ibm.com/pc/support/site. ... R-46474#18
reads 13N5442 but does not yield as a valid part number on the ibm shop website.
the fru for the t42 model (the m10 long fan) is 13R2657 and does not show up as a valid part number on the ibm website as well.
but i've found on this forum that the m10 fan part number has changed to 41W5204 (see here: http://forum.thinkpads.com/viewtopic.php?t=26578)
and that number is a valid one and ready to ship according to ibm's site.
so, is it possible to use the m10 fan (which should also be less noisier) for the t40p or is there a changed part number for 13N5442 under which to search?
(btw, does anybody know why ibm/lenovo show up with fru/part numbers on their maintenance sites which they have already changed internally...?)

As far as I'm aware, you can use any T40/T41/T42 and probably T43 fans in any model. However, if you have long, you should stick with long to keep the GPU cool.

so i will get a replacement fan from ibm (the m10 long fan)

here's the update i owe you:
according to the advice underclocker gave
i've ordered the m10 long fan (fru p/n: 41w5204) at ibm's site on friday and received it via ups on monday (this is fast...).

the replacement was quite easy (btw: the fan already has conducting paste pre-applied at the location it is pressed against the cpu)
and i was astonished about the improvement the new fan does make
over the old fan (fru p/n: 13N5442) which was much noisier, especially
when running under load.
i hope the new fan will last for a while....
