How long do crickets/grasshoppers live?

#1 Post by RealBlackStuff » Sat Sep 13, 2008 11:14 pm

About 2 months ago, we got a stack of firewood for our wood stove.
We'd left it outside for a few weeks, before we had time to bring it inside.
When we did that, a cricket must have been sleeping(?) in the pile and entered our basement with the wood.
Since then the sucker is driving me nuts!
He/she/it only chirps in the evening between 7pm and 1am.
I've sprayed with Raid, but to no avail.

So my question is, how long do these ejits live?

I would swear that they create a MP3 file that keeps playing for years after they die!!

If you plan to stack wood outside for the wintertime, be sure and keep it a distance from the house. PA is prime termite and carpenter ant territory. Inspect the wood for any huge ants or sawdust piles before entering your home. Oh, and crickets in the home are good luck!! As stated above, without food they only live a few weeks
