X61s won't eject from ultradock due to the DVD drive
I have this annoying problem I have been living with for a while now, but it starts to get on my nerves. For some reason, many time even if my DVD drive in the ultradock is not used in any program and there isn't even a CD inside. The Ultradock wouldn't eject properly, saying the DVD drive is in use. Happened to me many times, drives me nuts as I have to turn off the computer to fix that. Thanks

Do you have a shortcut to the drive on the desktop or somewhere?
Which OS are you using? If Windows, are you able to use the "safely remove hardware" function to stop the drive or does it also refuse?
edit; typo

Hi Andy, I am amazed to receive just one response to my post. I thought it's some kind of plague that I am not the only one to have that problem. [censored].andyP wrote:Do you have a shortcut to the drive on the desktop or somewhere?

Anyway:
- No I don't have any shortcut anywhere for the drive.
- I don't have any program running that I know of that could access the DVD drive. Even the Anti Virus is turned off.
- There is NO CD/DVD in the drive at all.
I have tried to eject using the following methods:
- Using the Ultradock eject button - Failed with same error. Didn't want to eject due to the CD/DVD Drive in use.
- Using the 'Remove Safely" from My computer by righ clicking on the drive. Didn't work either, same error.
- Using right-click on the tray bar on the Remove Hardware icon (plug with green V) then chose the DVD drive. Didn't work either, same error.
- There is NO program working in the background that I think could interefere with it. There is no window of anything open. Task bar is empty, not even a single window open. And no DVD in the drive.
Astonishing problem. No solution.

I don't see anything in the BIOS releases that specifically addresses this problem, but you could try the latest BIOS.
