Actual speed difference between 200Gb 7200rpm to 128Gb SSD ?

#1 Post by ComputerMinder » Wed Sep 17, 2008 1:35 pm

I was wondering if someone with an X61 that used to have an Hitachi 200Gb 7200RPM drive replaced it to 128Gb SSD drive and made a note of the actual speed difference he sees ?

I am thinking to replace my 200gb in favor of a 128gb SSD drive. I was thinking about 250gb SSD drive but the OCZ one got terrible horrific review, so I will unfortunately have to do with only 128gb SSD. Don't know yet which model is the best in terms of performance.

Would be interesting to hear comparison betweeh a 7200rpm drive to an SSD drive in the 128-250gb size.

There's a very useful Anandtech guide linked in this thread:

The general consensus is that they (the right models, of course) are way better than 7200 drives. Their only problem is price, any good one costs alot.
