T22 Heat Problems

Hey everyone.

Having a problem with my T22 >.<
It seems to be getting really hot at the back bottom left side of the laptop.

I used MobileMeter and it's showing Laptop heat at 72C ish.

The fan is blowing out warm air not major fast but a ok speed enough to feel it.

I don't know hardly nething about Laptops so opening isn't really a option >.<

Any advice?

Time to learn something or your T22 might become a victim of overheating, and that wouldn't be pretty...

First things first, here's HMM:

You may want to remove the keyboard (2 screws) and blow away any dust with compressed air to begin with. If that doesn't help, replacing the fan and applying a fresh dose of Arctic Silver will be your next step.

think I found the problem
I was playin a game that the laptop didn't like.
I have turned the game off and the laptop is cooling down

currently at 59C

Gonna get a can of compressed air 2moro aswell and blow it through the fan port and see if that helps at all.

Not had ne problems laptop it used to run quite hot even 83C and never had a crash or slow down now it seems to be cooling down tho.

While typin this it's dropped for 55C.

I was concerned about my 1GHz T22 also. I disassembled it cleaned the fan, added Artic Silver to the thermal pad and it's still hot. It has been a while so I don't know the exact temperature but it was/is uncomfortable on my lap. I think it's just the nature of these T22s to run hot. If it becomes unbearable you might consider a laptop cooler.

here's another thing to think about with the 1ghz t22...
if you're still using the original hdd, it's likely a 12.7mm height drive and it fits with virtually no air gap in its bay. on my still-running t22 (Mom's using it) when i replaced the hdd with a new 9.5mm height drive, the machine ran much cooler. just that 3mm air space allowed better cooling. fwiw...

The 1Ghz Coppermine CPU is rated for 34 watts TDP (thermal design power), one of the highest TDP of laptop CPUs. In comparison the 1Ghz Tualatin has double the L2 cache and use 20 watts TDP.

Keeping the heatsink/fan clean should help.
