My first WUXGA(1920x1200) and love'n it...

Well it's not on a Thinkpad
But on a new to me system.I just picked up a Dell Latitude D820(again).I had a D820 few months ago and found the system very solid system.Very close to the Thinkpads.
This deal came up on it and i had to get it.
It has a Core2duo T7400,100gig 7200rom,2 gig ram,15.4" WUXGA,2 years warrenty,dvd-rw,2 1/2 hr battery,docking station,system in mint shape.
I just have to say i love the very high rez of the widescreen.I like it better then my A31P's UXGA.
I just wish i could have found this screen in a Thinkpad. But to get thease spec's into a Thinkpad i would of had to spend twice what i did.

FWIW, that's probably a better WUXGA screen than one that you'd get on a ThinkPad...I wasn't pleased with one I had on my T61p whatsoever...

Enjoy!

The screen is realy nice. It's not a IPS screen. But the color's are very bright.Very close if not the same as the A31P's screen.
This Dell WUXGA screen looks nicer then my buddys T60P WSXGA+ screen.
It seams like and feels like the refresh rate on this Dell screen is much lower.

The WUXGA on my HP nw8240 is on par with the family T42p in terms of colours - of course can't quite match the Flexview viewing angles, but the visual quality in all other regards is simply excellent. When I get the time I'll do a photo comparison with the 2 machines, but I have too much cleaning up to do around the house today to spare a few minutes

The sad thing is that while Dell and HP seem to be improving, ThinkPad quality is on the decline...so Mac and Panasonic have created a substantial following of their own amongst former ThinkPad users in the business world...sad state of affairs.

I got my daughter a mint HP NC6220, which was essentially their reply to a T43 with integrated graphics, and it's a fine machine, I was actually pleasantly surprised with the keyboard. LCD (14" SXGA+) is the usual TN garbage, but no worse than it would be on any other non-FlexView unit...and it has all the bells and whistles for very low bucks...

Maybe it's me, but Lenovo has to come out with something better than its current line if it's at all intent on keeping old-time ThinkPad customers, and I'm not talking just about myself...I wouldn't have a problem ordering a W700 tomorrow if it had an IPS LCD, be it $4,000...but I absolutely refuse to pay $3,000+ for a TN panel...

I know what your saying George...I was out to a computer store and had a long look and played around with a new Thinkpad R61i.It was a nice laptop BUT the keyboard and build of the system was no better then the dell vostro or gateway system next to it.It just didn't "feel" like a thinkpad. Nowhere near what my A31P or the T41 i just sold is.

Quality wise, i think the R61 is superior to the old R series that IBM had, while older T4x has a superior exterior fit and finish to the Lenovo T6x, but on the other hand the T6x is much more rigid than the T4x.
R61i 4 gig, X60 3 gig, T60 3 gig, X31 2 gig, T40 2 gig, Macbook Pro 17 inch HD and many other laptops.
