#1 Post by jronald » Sat Sep 20, 2008 5:31 pm

I have looked for hours and can not find it
Anyone have any ideas?

Phoenix at one time bought up Award.
But Award BIOS codes are even harder to find.
But have a look at this page: http://www.bioscentral.com/beepcodes/awardbeep.htm

Perhaps you can find the motherboard make/model and check from there?

PS: And did you make the same typo in your searches, pheonix instead of phoenix?

Pull all memory modules out and see if the beep code changes. If you have any other known good modules that are supposed to work with that system, then try those, one-at-a-time. If you don't have any extra modules, then swap your existing ones around, again using only one.

A 1-4-1-1 beep code indicates a memory problem. Could you be missing the first beep?

So, if I read you correctly, a change of memory has removed the 4-1-1 beep code, yes?

BSOD would imply that an operating system is being loaded. I would first verify that the memory system is working fine before considering booting an OS. Download a copy of memtest86+:

http://www.memtest.org/

and run the memory to this diagnostic for a couple of complete passes (~90 minutes). If you then get no errors, you should have eliminated the memory as the cause of the problem and mostly verified that the motherboard is working.
