Try the CS4281 audio driver

#1 Post by fixup » Mon Sep 22, 2008 1:17 am

I use one of my X21 for DVB to watch digital TV. The problem is the audio goes into buzz sound after a while and video suffers from blocks and interrupts. I upgraded the CS4281 driver from IBM's (5.1.2535.0) to CS's (5.12.1.5026), now everything is fine. So if your X2 have some strange problem, you might want give this audio driver a try:

I've had the 4281 audio processor on two or three desktop boards in the past. It's a [censored] good, no frills chip, that works very well with Crystal's own driver. But when the various board manufacturers wrapped it in their own fancy software, in an effort to provide new features, I found the results did nothing except confuse and debase it's inherent goodness.

Stick with the basic driver and you should be pleased with the result, albeit perhaps without all the (equally confusing) bells and whistles that are specified for current ranges of audio chips.

Agree, the sound is very crispy through a good pair of speakers or headphones (I'm an audiophile).
