thinkpad 560 sound card

#1 Post by OldManClayton » Mon Sep 22, 2008 4:31 pm

I bought an old 560 for my sis two or three years back, (only the best for family. ;)) and after a long string of events which involved me breaking the system, and replacing it with another, (:P) I now have an extra system. Lately my friend and I have been talking on Skype, so I thought, "Hey! With a wireless card, I could just talk on the built in mic!" After installing said wireless card...

Skype says, "There is problem with your sound card" I'm wondering if it may be that the 560's sound card is not a full duplex card, so it can't put out and bring in sound at the same time. It seems a shame, because this cute little bugger would be perfect for voice chat. What I'm wanting to know is, if I were to buy a 16 bit PCMIA sound card, would I be able to use it for skype? Or is there a simpler solution that doesn't involve buying anything?

I tried the skype forum and computing.net, and neither of these places are as friendly or helpful as this place. :P

Thanks! :D
560, 560, 560, (all in various stages of completion/possession of a screen) 600E that's pretty dead, and a spiffy new X61 Tablet.
