Buy a T-series now or wait a bit?

#1 Post by neffets » Tue Sep 23, 2008 1:41 pm

I've finally been given the go-ahead from the company I work at to buy a new ThinkPad. Always have had the T-series (5 of them so far) and want get the latest and greatest in the same series.

So.. my questions is, should I aim for the T61p, Tx00...or are there any new models on their way in the near future.

I would hate to buy one now only to discover that in a month or so there will be a new line of models out there.

Any answer or advice would be greatly appreciated!

BTW... this is my first post in the forum! ;-)

the T400 and T500 are the new models.   you won't see anything replace them for at least 6~9 months, if not longer.

neffets have in mind that your equipment will be top notch only for 6 to 9 months, however this deppends on the applications you run, if your work is not a computing resources demanding one it will be useful a bit lot more.... as longer as the buld quality stands... which in this case is overhelming by nowadays standars, let alone the Lenovo's support... so go ahead.... and enjoy your new lappy!

I have never met anyone who needed something so new that they still have to wait. My T41 went 5 years, still performs, and still does everything most reasonable people would need today (including running 3 OS's simutaneously).

I moved into a T61p in order to see if I could make Vista work (I beat the pathetic system to death, and now it does work for me). And already the T61p is obsolete.

So what ?? Vista doesn't do anything that XP can't already do, so even if I went backward to my T41, I would still not be in any need.

To what end do we wait?? ... JDH
