New to the site but not new to the Thinkpad

I just found this site and I am so pleased. From what I have seen everybody seems friendly and knowledgeable. I currently own a R61i that I bought straight from Lenovo and had upgraded. This is my 11th Thinkpad that I have owned, I started out with a 600 and have had many others.

I have had so many thinkpads because I have Young onset Parkinson's Disease and touch point mouse is great for people with movement disorders. Like myself, I type with my left hand only {I'm right handed } and the thinkpad allows you to keep your hand pretty much centered on the keyboard and control the mouse at the same time.

After many years in the retail field my Parkinson's became to much for me to handle so I retired at 34 and became a stay at home father to 3 children. I have also started a foundation for people with movement disorders,who are on fixed or low incomes and need computers. I get computers donated by individuals and the business sector and I give them out to the needy at no charge.

Here is a crude website I threw together telling about the foundation. Please take a few mins out of your busy day or night and check it out. Who knows you could change someone's quality
of life.

[ThinkPad R]

I'm surprised about how long you've owned a ThinkPad but never discovered this forum (it shows up 6th in the first page of Google search), but it's great that you've been a ThinkPad user since the days of 600's. We have here, I think, some form of "respect" for the experienced ThinkPad veterans.

It's great to know that thinkpad's makes computing easier for the disabled - that's another great testimony about all the good qualities of a ThinkPad laptop.

Your site is not crude at all. The layout is neat & you've chosen the right colors - they are not strong & they don't pierce my eyes.

You know what? Thank you for posting the link. Now I know where to dispose my ThinkPad R40 within a year (when I buy a new one).

It's so much easier on your mind & your schedule to send off your old PC's to organizations like yours because if you trash it then you feel wasteful & and if you do you have go through all the procedure to make sure that you don't incur any damage to the environment.

Thank you for responding and the comments. Actually I still have my 1st 600 that I keep under the couch for guest to use if needed. I had to rebuild it after the wife spilled a coke in it. but it was no problem because I had 2 extras just for parts. I then went to the A20m's and really liked it except the plastics felt cheap and ended up snapping. So I did what any IBM'R would, I bought 3 more lol. I sold 2 of them but still have 1 that is good except the bottom plastics are broken. my most recent thinkpad was a R61I that i was really lucky and had it upgraded to the best screen with camera,lots of ram,pro wireless card, and duo core Pentium processor. This is such a nice machine, so quiet,always cool, never a problem. Until my 18month old decided to spill liquid on it and pretty much killed the screen. After 120 phone call to the service center and a lot of mistakes made on IBM'S part they finally replaced the screen . Heck they even came to my house and did it . Everything is back to normal now and my R61i is a work horse, I love it.

Oh and yes I would be happy to take donations if anyone wants to donate. all it will cost is like 8 bucks for a flat rate shipping box and you can change a persons life.
