Can I transplant a T60 screen to a T61?

#1 Post by CJR » Sat Sep 27, 2008 9:12 am

The subject line about says it all. I have a dead T60 with a good screen, and a newer T61 with a bunch of dead pixels. The screens are the same size and resolution, and both have integrated graphics. Can I transplant the T60 screen to the T61? I haven't been able to find the appropriate FRU numbers for the T60 online, but I have seen replacement screens that are advertised as being able to fit both.

Anyone ever done this before? A seach didn't yield too much.

Thanks!

If both have the same size ie 14" 4/3, yes.

@ CJR:

If your T61 was bought in 2008 (and therefore is still covered by Lenovo warranty), and if it indeed has "a bunch of dead pixels", then you're entitled for a free replacement-LCD under warranty as per the recently (and significantly improved!) Lenovo dead pixel warranty, as discussed in the thread Great new pixel policy and a few other changes, too pointing to Lenovo display (LCD) replacement for defective pixels - ThinkPad.

Thanks for the link - I didn't know about that new policy. Unfortunately, I've got two bright stuck ones right in the middle of my screen. Not fatal, but as long as I'm getting the T60 screen for free, might as well transplant it.

Anyone know how to get one more pixel stuck? :D

PS - Yes, I've tried just about every software and manual pixel-fixing remedy out there already!
