My R32 has giving up the ghost. Please help.

Any movement at all will make my R32 freeze up. I have removed everything I can. Could it be a loose memory socket like the X30s? Please help, this computer has Auto-Cad on it. Can it be repaired or better yet can the OS be moved to another Thinkpad like an X22?

The easy answer is, you could take the HD out and put that in another R32 with the same specs.

What are the exact TYPEs of the R32 and X22? That could tell us if they are compatible enough.

Unfortunately the X22 is way too different to handle the Windows installation of your R32.

Best match would be either a T30 or another R32 or possibly an A31P, X31 or X32 with P4-M CPU..
Alternatively, I'm sure you could backup your Autocad files, install Autocad on another laptop, and restore the saved files.

But before you do anything drastic, open the R32 to check for loose LCD cable connections. You may have to open the LCD lid as well.

Would anyone like to trade this R32 for an X-series parts machine?

Different chipset, different CPU architecture. The GPU is a Radeon on both machines, so that is not an issue. I'm willing to bet that you will have to back up your autocad files and do a fresh install. Backup your files and try it...clone your old drive to the new one with Acronis or similar.

I'm getting this in my error log:
ati2mtag Unknown EDID version

I've downloaded the ATI drivers twice. I've uninstalled them and reinstalled several times and still get this error message. Any ideas? I'm going to post this in the t4x forum
