GPS tracking on X200

#1 Post by bigscreen » Tue Sep 30, 2008 6:11 pm

Does anyone know of a way to resize the GPS window or is there a newer version available?

The current version of the GPS enabler that comes pre-installed on the X200 is crap. Its main window is > 1000 pixels high, while the screen height is only 800 pixels. The window cannot be resized. So there's no information about the longitude nor can you start Google maps, because the start button has been wisely placed at the bottom of that screen...

It's not like that on the X300.

But you can probably use alt-space to access the system menu, which will allow you to move the window. Time to use those arrow keys.

Did this work? I have one ordered (10/1/08) and I need to have a functional GPS.

No, it doesn't work. The system menu's move method doesn't move the window more than a few pixels beyond the top of the screen.

It would be possible to change the display orientation to portrait, but that's theory only. In practise, the portrait mode is awkward to say it mildly, for the trackpoint doesn't rotate with the screen: move the trackpoint "up" while holding the laptop in portrait mode an left it goes...

I have uninstalled the GPS application. It doesn't make any sense and is completely useless :(

Since the X300 GPS software doesn't have this problem, perhaps uninstalling the default one and try using the one on the web?

Good luck.
