ATI or nVidia??

#1 Post by Crunch » Thu Oct 02, 2008 12:46 pm

Hey folks...I think I'm going to get the W700 after all. It gave me an option as to whether I wanted ATI or nVidia somewhere. I forget if it was on Lenovo.com. So if given the choice, what would you select, and why??

Lenovo switched from ATI to nVidia for the T61/p series, then back to ATI, except for the W700??

What say you, folks?? :?:

I'd say you don't get the choice. Either take nVidia or leave it.

AFAIK, there is no ATI for W700.

Somehow I always preferred nVidia on my desktops, and ATi on my laptops. The plagued nVidia GeForce 8M series did not seem to help my faith in the company, and I am sure it is one of the main reasons why most manufacturers, Lenovo included, switched back to ATi for Montevina.

With that said, I am sure the nVidia chip on the W700 is a solid one, and one cannot assume that it will have any problems, just because the previous line had. And considering that, as basketb said, you don't have a choice - I say go for it and don't bother yourself with hypothetical questions of which one is better.
