Hi
What can l do to upgrade my laptop plus get it to run faster.
I am running wind 2000 pro, would it make a difference if l ran wind xp pro?Operating System
Also my laptop is running very slow, can l erase everything and start from the start. There is nothing on this laptop that l need, not to mention that l must have virius's galore.
Also this time l will need a real Norton type of protection that l can use on both of my thinkpads.
Below is what l have
Thanks
Alan

Upgrading to Windows XP will probably "feel" slower, especially if you only have 128MB of memory. My immediate recommendation regardless of whether or not you stick with W2K or go with XP, would be to add more memory. Maximum that the 600X can support is 576MB (64MB on board - what's called DIMM 0 in your report, and two 256MB low density modules - 16 chips total on each module). Those 256MB modules are fairly expensive; about $30 to $45 on eBay. Sometimes you can find a deal but it takes time and patience.
As far as the virus scanner is concerned, any such program can have an impact on the performance of your system (again, depending upon which version you use). For the past year or so, I've been using AVG 7.5 and 8.0 and it seems to work well without any noticeable strain on my system (1.13Ghz T23 with 1024GB of memory). It's a comparison of several antivirus programs.
