T400 and WSXGA+

#1 Post by altes-kind » Sat Oct 04, 2008 8:03 am

Hi folks,

are there any plans for a t400 with 14,1 screen and WSXGA+ (1680x1050) resoultion?
I'd love to have a higher resolution than the WXGA+...

Thanks,

1680x1050 on a 14 inch monitor is VERY small fonts, etc. I doubt we will see that.

I'm working with a Dell with 15,4 and WUXGA (1920×1200) and the fonts aren't too small in my opinion. And Lenovo offers 15,4 and WUXGA as well.

14,1 and WSXGA+ should me more or less the same.

AFAIK there is not. There used to be a 14" UXGA panel. Notebook displays are going to be more crappy and with less options every year.

Why do you say that they will be more crappy? Seems like lenovo actually came out with a better one with the LED. Also, the camera was never publicly available with WXGA+ screen with the T61. Only the WXGA screen had it.

i'd love to see a WSXGA+ on the 14" LCD but i since i haven't seen a WXGA+ in person i figured it might just be sufficient for my needs. I estimated that on a WXGA+ screen, i'm still getting the same width as a SXGA+ but just a few pixels shorter. IF i was using that resolution to reply i asssume the submit button would be right at the bottom of the LCD.

Anyone with a WXGA+ LCD wanna send me a screenshot of this page or the reply page? shotta35 AT optonline.net

Thanks :)

I find that 92 DPI on 1440x900 on my 14.1" is perfect, 96 DPI with smaller fonts is great too.

That's as fine a resolution as I've ever found practically workable on a 14" wide screen display!

It's workable and good but more realestate is always better.

Just FYI, my 14.1" T61 has WXGA+ and a camera. I don't recall if it was actually listed in the online product list, or if I had to ask the sales rep about it. It does/did exist.

Same setup on my new T400. I find 800 vertical pixels too tight when running Virtual machines w/decent resolutions + the VMware GUI "wrapper".

Hi folks, I'm new on this forum. Been on Thinkpads since five years now.

For starters I'm picking up an old thread, since I also came to think this would be a super neat option. But so far there's no 14,1" screen with WSXGA+ I guess? I wonder if there ever will be... For me that would represent ultimate harmony between screen size/resolution & portability!

Actually it's not that small. The dpi (140.51) would be the same as in 12.1 inch laptops with WXGA+ screen, and it's perfectly usable.

Is there a wishlist somewhere, read by Lenovo developers? :D

EDIT: Nevermind, I just realized that the T420 has an option of 1600x900, which more or less does the trick - although I like the 16:10 form factor better.

EDIT: Changed the phrasing a bit. I would still love to see this happen. :> (2012)
