FS: T40, clean, works without issues, inexpensive, worldwide

#1 Post by ajkula66 » Sat Oct 04, 2008 9:39 am

I picked this up as a backup machine, but have since purchased two more backups...so this one has to go...

the basics:

ThinkPad T40 2373-72U

Original description:
P M 1.5GHz
256MB RAM..................now 1.25GB (1280MB)
40GB 5400rpm HDD................now 40GB/4200rpm
14.1 XGA(1024x768) TFT LCD
32MB ATI Radeon 7500
16x10x24x/8x CD-RW/DVD(slim)
Modem(CDC)
1Gb Ethernet(LOM)
Intel 802.11b Wireless(MPCI)
Secure Chip(TCPA)
UltraNav
6cell battery......................in yellow, holds 27 out of original 47, 115 cycles
WinXP Pro

caveats and imperfections:

- small crack in the palmrest under the lower set of buttons
- missing one foot

If it were not for the issues above, I'd say that the machine was in downright excellent condition. LCD is clean and bright, no dead pixels or pressure marks. Keyboard has the slightest shine, barely any at all. Overall wear is way under average for a machine of this generation. If the palmrest is replaced, this will be 9.25-9.50 on a 1-10 scale, with 10 being the best.

I will vouch for this ThinkPad to be free of any GPU/USB issues at the present time, to the best of my ability to test.

Asking $225 shipped to lower 48 states, will ship worldwide if so desired and paid for.

You can deduct $25 if you don't want the HDD, and $30 if you don't need the extra RAM.

Feel free to PM me for high-resolution pictures, or with any questions/concerns that you might have.

Stop tempting me with these cheap laptops! ;__; I have to save for an x60 tablet!
560, 560, 560, (all in various stages of completion/possession of a screen) 600E that's pretty dead, and a spiffy new X61 Tablet.

This is a nice machine.

It must be the economy! The crisis hits main street! What's really crazy is that used T40's, T30's, T23's, R40's, R50's, etc. all sell in the same price range!

Yes, the crisis is right here. I happened to buy an X40 off eBay for $230 shipped to Russia just before the rouble dived.

P. S. New R50es are sold in our local chain of supermarkets for, sort of, $379.99. They say the warranty is 1 year, I wonder where they got them. :?

I've been trying to sell a decent Compaq P3 on eBay for the past 2 weeks, and it's still unsold. And, yet I see idiots overpaying $125+ for a Dell CPi with 266MHz Pentium2 and 32MB RAM with "unlimited free tech support" from a seller with tons of raves about how great the PCs are.

Thinkpads seem to sell at a premium on eBay.

So, I wish you MUCH better than I have had.
