T61p 15.4" Screen - has a bit too much play?
Hi,
My T61p is relatively new however I had not noticed this issue until the other day.
I don't move the that much but had to move it back a little as the office lights were glaring on the screen. I noticed about a 1/4 of an inch play in the screen panel i.e. where it connects to the two rectangular hinges.
The actual hinged portion feels secure and solid as it should however there is some initial play which has got me a bit worried.
Is this normal or has someone been playing with the T61p while I have been away on my lunch breaks?!

Revolutions Are Exciting... But They Leave Many Dead Bodies
Mine (8 months old) has this problem as well.. I started noticing after 2 months..
Thank god its not as annoying as on cheaper books where the screen nods on every key stroke.
I remember reading in another thread about this problem where somebody wrote that there are 2 different hinge producers from which only one of them has that problem. Apparently you can get them replaced. I haven't bothered to do that yet because I didn't have the time for that. Though I would be curious whether those other (good) hinges are also on the European market.. (as spare parts, i mean).

I had this problem on my T61p.
I just sent it in to have them replace the hinges (I could have done it myself, but oh well). Took less than a week from calling it in to getting it back.

i also don't have the time for that though
would they ever consider just shipping us the hinges?
The "Kato" hinges are the sucky ones, the "Reel" ones are the good ones as was found out by Pascal_TTH.

It was perhaps a defective batch... It's a shame for a flagship laptop. Before my T61p suite me, I have to change the hinge, replace the poor samsung panel by an LG/Philips and change the slow hitachi 160GB drive...
