Kingston 512M PC133+T23+T2x and T30 interchangable parts?

#1 Post by juhpal » Tue Oct 07, 2008 3:51 am

Hello,

I have this Kingston 512M PC133 SODIMM. Would it work in T23/what are the odds? (It doesn't work in my T21) Are there any limitations in T23 memory types? I consider upgrading my T21 to T23 by changing the LCD to working T23 body.

If it is a 144-pin SODIMM and PC133, it will work in a T23.
T23s take all PC133 (and rarely some PC100 as well) RAM, both CL2 and CL3.
T23s can take 2x 512MB RAM.

As to your upgrading, swapping out the LCD does not change the TYPE of laptop.
T20/T21/T22 are quite different from a T23.
AFAIK only the LCD/Lid and the keyboard are directly interchangeable.

I think that's what juhpal is saying: he wants to take the good screen from his T21 and put it on a T23 base so he can use the memory. T23's with bad screens are easy to find :(

Yes, this is what I mean. Another question: I know this is very unlikely, but would T21 screen work in T30?? So are T30 and T2x screens interchangeable??

No, T30 screens are different. The LCD cable connector on the MB in a T30 is vertical while the T2x coonector is horizontal. The LCD end is a smaller connector.

AFAIK you can use a T2x LCD by itself, put that in a T30 lid and use it with the T30 LCD cable.

Keyboards are not the same.

The inverters are NOT interchangeable, the T30 inverter has a different shape (it's shorter than the T2x).

The T30 LCD use a smaller connector. The only panels that use this connector style are the A20p SXGA+, A22m SXGA+ (2628-Sxx) LCDs. So the T30 cable connector doesn't fit the T2x panels, AFAIK.

My apologies, sjthinkpader is correct, they DON'T fit in a T30.
