warranty question - please advise

#1 Post by georgeb » Tue Oct 07, 2008 7:23 am

"Power surge on hub port" my computer (T43) has begun to tell me. Not sure what it is, I look it up and find lots of references to dying motherboards (not good). I've tried all the fixes I could find but it keeps happening (with increasing frequency).

This, of course, is all happening a mere 5 days before the end of the warranty. Now, before I call IBM warranty, I was hoping to get some advice from you all as far as the best strategy for dealing with this problem. Should I push the warranty people for a mobo replacement? Or ask them about some sort of warranty extension? Thanks

Just send it in. If the board needs replacement, they'll do it.

Extending the warranty is always a good idea IMO.

Good luck.

+1, you don't need to tell Easyserv how to fix the machine.

It's less expensive to extend the warranty if you do it before it expires. You may have to do it directly with IBM.
